Latest Northants MMOC attended event
Kimbolton Country Fayre and Classic Car ShowThis picture tells us very many things about todays show - July 23:
The first is that the British Summer is mightily unpredictable, as the wind across the Kimbolton site today was fierce at times, but for those attending the rain did hold off until the end of the show, but that's not to say it didn't try to wind us all up at times by dropping enough rain to cause people to run to put the roofs up on their cars, or in the case of Terry bring out the micro fibre cloths to dry off his car. The second is that this show, in my opinion, is one of the be best that we attend locally. It is unfortunately for us in Cambridgeshire, so we cant 100% call it one of your own, but it is just a small run up the A14 for most of the club members so it makes is one of the better attended by the Club. It does however deserve our attention as it attracts many clubs from the local area, so you can see Minis to Jaguars to Austns, and much, much more. Thirdly if your not 100% into the cars the site itself is lovely and the organisers of the fayre ensure that there are stands and arena events that will interest everyone. Honestly if you didn't make it this year add it to your 2024 diary |

Coventry & Warwickshire Branch Rally, GaydonIt's been a busy few weeks as those not worn out from attending the National Rally the week before took a drive up the A45 to Gaydon, in Warwick to attend the Coventry and Warwickshire Branch Rally.

Special mention should be made to the weekends prize winner Terry Blissett, who, following his success with his lowlight ERVIN at the National in 2022, was awarded the trophy for Peoples Choice, by the C&W Branch.

National Rally - Chateau Impney, DroitwichJune saw the branch attend the MMOC's 75th Anniversary National Rally, which which this year, took place at Chateau Impney, in Droitwich.
The new location saw members take what felt a long drive up the M6, after the luxury on the event being held local to us for the last 5 years. This was to prove eventful for a couple of members, but thankfully all managed to finally get to the event safely albeit 1 or 2 without their Moggies. As ever the event doesn't disappoint with members in attendance from the US and Netherlands Clubs, in addition to clubs from all over the UK. If our stand was anything to go by this allowed members the chance to catch up with many friends from past events and MOT's The new location gave the event a special feel and the back drop of the Chateau, with its terrace where the Morris Timeline cars were displayed was lovely in the sunshine. The rally itself got into its stride over the course of the weekend, with members being able to drive Matilda, the MMOC's charity car, during the blind fold driving challenge, take the train around the different areas of the show, and a special mention should be given to the evening entertainment on Friday and Saturday. The branch would like to give a big thank you to Mike and Neil who organised and manned our stand over the weekend. The Spares R Us concept was born as the club has been kindly donated many spares during the course of the last year. Neil and Mike thought there was no better place to make sure that they got into right hands, and were able to raise £530 for the clubs charity, AGE UK - Northamptonshire by asking for donations for any items taken. |

May saw 7 cars head to Derbyshire for the weekend, heading to the Heights of Abraham on the Saturday to take in the stunning views, and a tour of the caves, there may have been the odd icecream comsumed by the group as well as the weather was glorious.
Sunday saw the 7 cars travel in convoy to The Great British Car Museum which was holding a Morris Minor day. The museum itself is a wonderful experience taking you thtough over 100 years of Britsh car production. The event was well attended by MMOC members, and there was a guest appearance by Mirander, the MMOC's charity car who was on site raising funds for Marie Currie. |

The choice was unanimous and we are delighted to announce that the decision has been taken to nominate AGE UK - Northamptonshire as the branch charity for 2023.

Link → Age UK Northamptonshire | Fundraising ← Link Thankyou to Denis and Val for organising and hosting a Coffee Morning at their home in Ringstead, raising an amazing £275 for Age UK Northamptonshire. The event was blessed with amazing weather, and those attending were able to enjoy home made cakes, while catching up with friends. A Denis and Val also organised a tambola, plant sale and those attending were able to enjoy, I'd like to say friendly, but it got a little competitive, game of 2penny shove, where Terry was pushed into 2nd position on the leader table by Tim! I feel a re-match coming up. |
