The branch was formed in 1982 by a group of Morris enthusiasts.

Our membership base has grown since the launch of the club, and we now have 48 active members, driving over 33+ Morris Minors

We meet once a month at Overstone Manor, Sywell and regularly throughout the summer months at many car rallies, please see the events diary for details

December Meander - Mulled Wine & Mince Pie Run

December has been a busy month with several events taking place in addition to the regular monthly meeting, including the annual Mince Pie and Mulled Wine run, where those attending dress up their Morris with festive tinsel, (and whatever else they may choose), and end the event with a little get together for some festive treats.

The meander organised by Neil Smith and lead by John and Elaine Turner took 10 cars around the back roads of Northamptonshire, with the end destination being the home of John and Liz Pratt for an array of festive drinks and snacks.

I'm told that there was only one Minor failure on this run, but that was a classic, as one member has their wiring loom catch fire and had to call recovery before they even started the meander. Got to love these classic's, they keep you on your toes!

I'm also sure that Sue and Steve Reynolds enjoyed joining in the meander, I'm told that they had previously hosted it for 10 years!

Thank you to all involved in organising the event and those who brought items for the buffet table

Club Social - Wreath Making

Now that the summer car shows are finished as a club we try to keep our social activities going.

As such the committee organises various social events during the winter period, with one of the December events being a seasonal wreath making morning, with mulled wine and mince pies. Tickets were sold by members so the event included friends and family, and as you can see a wonderful array of wreaths were made by the group, and a further £100 was donated to the Club Charity.

Thank you to Liz and John Pratt for organising the event and our lovely waiting staff John Turner, Gary Buckingham and David Duffy for doing the rounds with the Mulled Wine and Mince Pies

November Meander - Terry & Maggie

With no car shows to attend it's good to have events such as the monthly meanders in the club events diary, as they give the cars a run out and the members an opportunity to socialise. So it was good to see so many members, 16 cars in total, join Terry and Maggie for their November meander.

Club meets never go without a bonnets up moment, and this was no different as it saw one member leaving their car in the carpark, as it had developed a oil leak by the time it had arrived. Nothing new there I hear you say, but the iridescent puddle coming from under the car was more than your normal Moggie leak.

The run took the group from the Seasons Garden Centre in Burton Latimer, through Cranford, Grafton Underwood, Brigstock, Benefield, Deene, Deenethorpe Harringworth, Gretton, Caldecott and Great Easton and finally onto to Cottingham, where we were booked in for lunch at Royal George

Thank you Terry and Maggie for organising such an enjoyable meander and for paying the weather Gods to keep the rain at bay!

Coventry & Warwickshire Branch Rally, Gaydon

Picture
It's been a busy few weeks as those not worn out from attending the National Rally the week before took a drive up the A45 to Gaydon, in Warwick to attend the Coventry and Warwickshire Branch Rally.
Special mention should be made to the weekends prize winner Terry Blissett, who, following his success with his lowlight ERVIN at the National in 2022, was awarded the trophy for Peoples Choice, by the C&W Branch.

National Rally - Chateau Impney, Droitwich

June saw the branch attend the MMOC's 75th Anniversary National Rally, which which this year, took place at Chateau Impney, in Droitwich.

The new location saw members take what felt a long drive up the M6, after the luxury on the event being held local to us for the last 5 years. This was to prove eventful for a couple of members, but thankfully all managed to finally get to the event safely albeit 1 or 2 without their Moggies.

As ever the event doesn't disappoint with members in attendance from the US and Netherlands Clubs, in addition to clubs from all over the UK. If our stand was anything to go by this allowed members the chance to catch up with many friends from past events and MOT's

The new location gave the event a special feel and the back drop of the Chateau, with its terrace where the Morris Timeline cars were displayed was lovely in the sunshine. The rally itself got into its stride over the course of the weekend, with members being able to drive Matilda, the MMOC's charity car, during the blind fold driving challenge, take the train around the different areas of the show, and a special mention should be given to the evening entertainment on Friday and Saturday.

The branch would like to give a big thank you to Mike and Neil who organised and manned our stand over the weekend. The Spares R Us concept was born as the club has been kindly donated many spares during the course of the last year. Neil and Mike thought there was no better place to make sure that they got into right hands, and were able to raise £530 for the clubs charity, AGE UK - Northamptonshire by asking for donations for any items taken.

Northants MMOC charity for 2025

Picture
At the January Committee Meeting, the committee members were asked to consider a more local charity for 2025. The choice was unanimous and we are delighted to announce that the decision has been taken to nominate Northamptonshire Air Ambulance as the branch branch charity for 2025.

For those that are unaware of this amazing charity and the work that the Northamptonshire and National teams do
to support our local communities, we urge you to take a bit of time to have a look at their website, please just click on the link below:

theairambulanceservice.org.uk/your-local-air-ambulance/

Your Local Air Ambulance brings critical care to five counties, with no government or National Lottery funding.

Each mission costs £2,300. In 2024, they flew to 3,779 emergencies.
Every one made possible by people like you!

There is no doubt in any of our minds that a donation, however big or small, will be put to very good use by this amazing organisation, and we hope to let you know during the course of the year what your donations have contributed to.
